He completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Jos, Nigeria in 2000 where he obtained an MBBS degree. The West African College of Surgeons accredited him with Diploma in Anaesthesia in the year 2004 and he commenced his residency training the following year obtaining his fellowship in Family Medicine from the West African College of Physicians in 2010. In 2014, he completed his Masters in International Health/Tropical medicine at Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.
Prior to joining FOCOS in October 1, 2015, he had worked with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and Goldfields Ghana Mine Hospital, Tarkwa where he served as the Chief Medical Officer.
In this position, was responsible for over 6,000 outpatient cases comprising staff and dependents as well as the members of the surrounding communities. He was the Vice-president of Society of Family Physicians of Ghana (SOFPOG) from 2014-2016 and was appointed as an examiner of the West African College of Physicians, Faculty of Family Medicine for both the Membership and Fellowship examinations in October 2016.
Dr. Ofori-Amankwah brings to the impeccable world class FOCOS team, his rich expertise in family practice, tropical diseases and medical research. In addition to being the Senior Specialist in Family Practice, he serves as the Director of Medical Services.
